When Sports Become Larger Than Life

“The main inspiration on why I want to be a Blue Eagle is because of the kids,” Jai Reyes said (or something to that effect) in his farewell speech in last year’s Holy Mass (after Game 3 of the Finals). “Because of them, I strive to be a role model.”

Handing Out the Letter Grades: Mad Men and the Fall TV Season Premiere of 2010

"First rule of politics, kiddo: never let the truth get away of a good story." - Nucky of "Boardwalk Empire"

As promised, here is my review of the Fall TV* season premiere episodes from last week. I know this is quite late but it’s just now that I got to finish everything. I have a hectic schedule lately so this will be a relatively short blog entry. Just like in this year’s May Sweeps, I gave letter grades for the episodes of the TV shows. I am going to impose a grading curve with the best episode getting the A (D’uh!). For this week, we have a steep curve.

8 Random Thoughts

“We’re flawed because we want so much more. We’re ruined because we get these things and wish for what we had.” – Donald Draper of “Mad Men”

There are just too many things going in my mind right now so I thought of discussing all of these in one blog (primarily because I seldom blog these days due to lack of ‘momentum’). Here are eight random thoughts about UAAP, “Mad Men” and “Entourage” preceded by a question to serve as a direction and a start/stop point for each. This would also prevent you from getting spoiled.

Top Ten TV Seasons

As we are a week away from the start of Fall TV, I realized that it is time to write something about TV. After all, watching TV series is one of my main hobbies the past few years. This experience would just improve this month as my favorite TV shows return.

Complacency

Almost three months. This is my longest blogging drought since 2007. There were several reasons why I stopped blogging, namely: 1) I studied for a certification exam; 2) I was supposed to write a blog a week after I passed the test but I couldn’t finish my writeup; 3) my work piled up and 4) I became lazy to write. Before, I always find time to blog whether how little my free time is. I can attribute it to passion or my “writing momentum.” In some ways or another, I lost that the past few months as I got satisfied with other carefree distractions in my free time. After all, sitting back watching plenty of TV series or movies is quite easy. If not, I have my Xbox 360 games or I go out and party. Heck, I could just tweet my thoughts on current events. I was too complacent with what I have.
